    How to read the spread

    A positive median margin of safety means the typical covered company in that sector trades below our mid-case intrinsic value. A negative figure means the sector is priced above it. Wide discounts often carry a reason — cyclical earnings, regulation, structural decline — so treat the table as a starting point for research rather than a buy list.
